What can it be used on?
Chalkbarn’s eco friendly Hardwax-oil has been designed to provide protection for untreated wooden floors and furniture. The finish is durable yet retains natural look and feel of wood.
What does it smell like?
When initially applied, Chalkbarn’s eco friendly Hardwax-oil smells of lavender but once it has dried there is no smell. We don’t like synthetic anything at Chalkbarn, so we use only pure essential oils. The essential oil acts as a direct replacement for the solvent but has the added benefit of smelling divine and being completely safe to breathe.
How do I use it?
It’s simple, use a non-linting cloth to apply the hardwax-oil and another to remove it. Wax-on, wax-off.
What is it free from?
Chalkbarn’s hardwax-oil is free from petrochemicals, phosphates, enzymes, synthetic fragrance and animal by-product, harsh chemicals, carcinogenic dryers, harmful VOC’s and is not tested on animals. We make all of our
products in the UK.
Oil based or water based?
Chalkbarn’s hardwax-oil is oil based for a very good reason; most water based wood lacquers and polishes on the market started out as oil based but have been emulsified with chemicals to be water based. Although this process reduces the published VOC percentage of the product it introduces slow VOCs as a direct replacement. Slow VOCs are actually more harmful as the product off-gases harmful gasses throughout the course of its life rather than at it’s initial drying stage.
We don’t emulsify nor do we use harmful VOCs. We utilise an essential oil ‘spike lavender oil’ as a direct replacement for the solvent.
